Resume 101

Resume 101

Looking for a summer job? An Internship? Your first step will be to write an effective resume.

IUP has resources to help students write resumes.  The two places on campus that are always willing to assist students are the Writing Center and the Career Development Center.  Also don’t be afraid to ask an ASM or a CA to help because they are willing to help as well.

Here are some tips to write a resume that will get you the position you are applying for:
-Keep your resume short (1-2 pages)
                  -Write what your objective is
-Make sure to list all education and awards you have received (deans list, scholarships, ect.)
-Use action words such as operated, recorded, demonstrated, ect.
                  -Be clear and concise
-List what skills you have used in past jobs that will be useful to the job you are applying for
                  -Keep the resume current
                  -Always be honest
